The objectives of this research were:n(i) To evaluate several plant species with respect to discrimination between Ca and Sr in absorption by the roots.n(ii) To use a plant species that does not discriminate between Ca and Sr in absorption to evaluate the mechanisms supplying ca and Sr to roots growing in a sand-exchange resin media.nAnd(iii) To consider the effects of Ca and/or Sr S0t» precipitation at the root surface on the Ca Sr ratio of Ca and Sr remaining in solution.
