ESTOQ: A Program for Calculating First Collision Sources for Avoiding the Ray Effect in Two-Dimensional S/sub N/ Calculations

The results of two-dimensional S/sub N/ calculations are often made erroneous by the so-called ray effect to the extent that they cannot be used. The significance of the effect depends to a great extent on the individual problem considered. It is one of the most important problems in the use of the S/sub N/ method for shielding calculations. The use of the ESTOQ program and the theory behind the coding are described in detail. Test calculations of neutron transport and neutron radiotherapy are described. ESTOQ is written in FORTRAN IV for the CDC 6600. 30 figures, 3 tables.
