In addition, experiments were planned to investigate the possible influence of the blood-brain-barrier on thyroid hormone distribution in the brain by choosing the intraventricular route of administration of radio-actively labeled thyroid hormone and to compare the autoradiographic data obtained from this experiment with those obtained earlier after intravenous injection. In order to establish characteristics of the deposition of binding of radioactively labeled thyroxine and triiodothyronine, or metabolites of them, unlabeled thyroxine or triiodothyronine was injected prior to 125I-Iabeled hormone. Thus, clues were expected to be obtained regarding sites in the tissue in which saturable receptor bindin may exist.
