AEC PROJECT DIRECTOR'S OPERATIONS PLANS FOR PROJECT RIO BLANCO

Project RIO BLANCO is the third in a series of experiments jointly sponsored by the Atomic Energy Commission and private industry which are intended to prove the feasibility of stimulating natural gas production. Rio Blanco is the first project to use three nuclear explosives fired simultaneously in one emplacement well. The well is located in the Piceance Basin of western Colorado, about 50 miles north of Grand Junction.nThese ten plans include documents which define field programs ncces3ary to fulfill the responsibilities which have been assigned to the AEC Project Director for Rio Blanco.
