CREATION OF LARGE CASTINGS BY THE INVESTMENT PROCESS

摘要

The original designs of the Controller and the Base specified sections made of two 6061-T6 aluminum cylindrical forgings with machined 6061-T6 sheet and bar features welded into position;these assemblies required finish machining to meet design tolerances. During the initial development stages, it became apparent this design concept would result in high end-product cost because of the large amount of machining and assembly time.
