摘要

Samples of glucose and starch were labeled by tritium atom bombard ment. Up to 51% incorporation as non-labile tritium was achieved with crystalline, anhydrous glucose. Distribution of tritium in the carbon skeleton of glucose was calculated from a comparison of the specific molar activity of glucose with its derivatives. Derivatives prepared were gluconicacid, glucose phenyl osatriazole, 2-phenyl-4-formyl osatrlazole, 2-phenyl-4-carboxylic acid osatriazole, glucose phenyl flavazole, l-phenyl-3 formy flavazole and formaldehyde dimedone. The tritium distribution showed definite structural effects. Generally films of glucose and the amylose butanol complex had random or nearly random distribution of tritium in glucose. Crystalline cC-D-glucose monohydrate had zero tritium on C-2 and twice random tritium on C-5. Starch granules had zero or near zero tritium on C-3 and close to twice random tritium on C-2.
