Environmental 129I Measurements.

Environmental levels of 129I and natural 127I have been measured by neutron activation analysis on samples from throughout the United States locations near and remote from release points. Highest 129I concentrations were observed near nuclear fuel reprocessing facilities. Levels of 129I above natural iodine background were observed at all locations studied. The sample data establishes baseline levels of environmental 129I for the expanding nuclear industry.
