Analysis of a 1000-Home Solar Total Energy Community Using Clear Air Solar Intensity.

This report presents a study of the performance of a solar system which provides the electrical,heating,cooling and hot water energy requirements of a hypothetical 1000-home community located in Albuquerque,New Mexico. The system uses the total energy concept with parabolic concentrators used to collect the solar energy and heat a fluid to 590exp 0 K. A turbine utilizes the heated fluid to generate electrical energy and the heat rejected from the turbine condenser is used to satisfy the thermal needs of the community. Performance of the major system components is described for several areas of both north--south and east--west collectors. Results from economic analyses of the systems are included.
