TRACE ELEMENT AND MAJOR COMPONENT BALANCES AROUND THE SYNTHANE PDU GASIFIER

A series of gasification tests were run in the SYNTHANE R.D.S. gasifier in an attempt to define the distribution in the effluent streams of the trace elements that enter the gasifier in the coal. The feed coal and non-gaseous products were analyzed for 65 trace elements. Results indicate most of the elements are found in the char and dusts with some specifically in the tars and waters. More accurate methods of analysis are needed to make reasonable balances of the trace elements.
