EXPERIMENTAL STRESS ANALYSIS OF THE ATTACHMENT REGION OF HEMISPHERICAL SHELLS WITH ATTACHED NOZZLES PART 5c. NONRADIAL NOZZLE AT 22-1/2 DEGREES 2.625 in. O. D. & 2.500 in. I.D., Zero Penetration
This report is Part 5c of this series and presents the results of the in¬vestigations conducted on a nonradially attached nozzle of 2.625 0.0., 2.500" I.D., and finished flush with the inner surface of the hemisphere. The nozzle is inclined at 22 1/2° from a radial axis. Complete dimensions of the hemi¬sphere and nozzle are given in Figure 1. Stress values for the following types of loadings are tabulated in Part 5a:n1. Internal pressure applied to the hemisphere and nozzle assembly.n2. An axial load applied collinear with nozzle.n3. A pure torque applied in the radial plane of the nozzle. in Part Sb:n4. A pure bending moment or axial couple applied in various axial planes of the nozzle.
