POSTIRRADIATION EXAMINATION OF CAPSULES HRB-4, HRB-5, AND HRB-6

The irradiation of capsules HRB-4, HRB-5, and HRB-6 was sponsored by the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), with a portion of the fuel samples provided by General Atomic (GA). The purpose of the experiments was to evaluate the irradiation performance of fuel rods fabricated using candidate processes and materials for the large high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (LHTGR) start-up and recycle fuel systems.
