RAFT RIVER GEOTHERMAL EXPLORATORY HOLE No.l (RRGE-1)

Raft River Geothermal Exp1oratory Hole No. 1 (RRGE-l) is an exploratory hole drilled to a depth of 5,000 feet in intruded quartz monzonite basement rock of the Raft River valley of southeastern Idaho. The goal of the Raft River Geothermal R6D program is to determine the feasibility of developing and utilizing medium temperature (300° F) geothermal resources for power generation and nonelectrical applications.nThis well was drilled to obtain geological information and evaluate the deep geothermal reservoir system. This report describes the drilling and completion of RRGE-l and includes the daily drilling reports, drill bit records, descriptions of the casing, cementing, logging and coring programs, and the containment techniques employed on RRGE-l. A subsequent report, ID0 IOO63, will describe the planning, technology, and testing of RRGE-l.
