The Morgantown Energy Research Center (MERC) is engaged in a variety of research efforts to improve the extraction and conversion technology for fossil fuel energy resources. Large volumes and many different forms of experimental data are generated from the various research projects. To gather and process the data expeditiously, several small data acquisition and processing systems were developed. This document on MERC facilities and their use is intended to give information helpful in maintaining data and systems compatibility between in-house and outside cooperative research programs. The broad objectives for developing small computer systems and the arrangements for larger computer usage are discussed.
