Terrain Backscattering Radar Cross Section Versus Incidence Angle:Estimates from Experimental Data.

Estimates are presented of the mean and standard deviation of sigma sub 0 (theta) in dB where sigma sub 0 (theta) is the backscattering radar cross section per unit area of terrain and theta is the angle of incidence. The variation of the mean with theta is shown from about 4exp 0to 25exp 0 . These estimates are based on radar-return measurements made by the Sandia Laboratories in the mid-1950's.
