Influence of Stress, Heat Treatment, and Coupling on Intragranular Stress Corrosion Cracking of Inconel 600 and X 750

摘要

The different studies done on the cracking of alloys such as the Inconel 600 under stress and in high temperature water are reviewed, and the following parameters are discussed: stress, heat treatment, coupling, grain size and structure. A hypothesis which is linked to the presence of sulfur compounds in the alloys allows one to speculate on a cracking mechanism. (ERA citation 02:060403)
