The present report contains additional evidence for selection of abundant (by volume) sizes of particles by copepods. Preliminary data on niche separation are presented with strong qualifications.nDuring the year since our first report we have accomplished or will accomplish the following: Completed an annual study of feeding by adult copepods on natural distributions of particles (manuscript in preparation).nCompleted studies of the development of selective feeding in juvenile copepods [manuscript attached to report (Allan et al., 1976)].nInitiated experiments with live and dead algae, and with spined (Chaetoceros) and unpinned algae to obtain evidence for the mechanisms of selection.
