Measurements of swimming time of fishes were made in a trough in which a current was created by electric motors. The length of swimming time of individual specimens varied within large limits. When fish were not fed for 18 days the swimming time decreased sharply and restoration of feeding led to rapid recovery. (ERA citation 03:001459)
