The paper is aimed at proving the possibility of existence of intensity oscillations in quasimolecular K X-ray spectra in the region lying immediately beyond the characteristic lines in collisions between heavy ions and atoms. Oscillations are supposed to be due to sudden perturbations and distortions of molecular or atomic states. Calculations are carried out for the Ni+Ni exp 60 colliding system in the Ni ion energy range between 67 and 37 MeV. Calculations prove the existence of oscillations immediately below and above the characteristic transitions. The reasons which prevent experimental observations of such oscillations are discussed.
