The stocks of Drosophila melanogaster used in the genetic test have been developed over a period of several years to produce a test scheme which is convenient to handle on a large scale while still providing built-in checks for both technical errors and non-disjunction. Genetic tests were conducted to detect losses of the Y or X-chromosome and to record sex-linked recessive lethal observed in the F2 and F3.
