Non-Standard Analysis and Infinitesimals:An Elementary Survey

This report presents a primer in Non-Standard Analysis. Its his-torical development is reviewed. Its mathematical highlights are em-phasized, notably a concrete construction of hyperreal numbers based on ultrafilters. The deep duality correspondences between classical and Non-Standard Analysis are outlined, particularly with reference to model theory in mathematical logic.
