Computer Reactivity Requirement and Control Rod Worth for 30MW, 2-Day Operation of PBF with a Large Reactive Experiment.

Reactor physics calculations have been performed to investigate the feasibility of conducting loss of coolant (LOCA) experiments that will require steady state operation with the present Power Burst Facility (PBF) reactor core configuration. It was determined that sufficient excess reactivity would be available for 48hour irradiation of a 16-pin LOCA test cluster at a PBF core power of 30MW. It was also determined that shutdown requirements could be met with the LOCA test in place and that no additional reactivity shimming would be necessary. A description of these calculations is given.
