Crack Propagation Initiation in Ductile Structures

The research center at Saclay has undertaken a program concerned with thin structures on structural elements, in which crack propagation initiation occurs with substantial plastic strain. The results obtained with two types of structures are given: center cracked plates from a single steel previously subjected to various degrees of strain hardening; spheres of different dimensions.
