For the purpose of this study, the mine was assumed to be at a depth of 2000 feet. The OWI has specified that two mining operations be con¬sidered in this study including (a) a Pilot Plant mine approximately 40 acres in plan and (b) a Full Scale Repository approximately 2000 acres in plan. Mining will be by "room-and-pillar" methods with approximately 25 percent extraction. Room heights will be near 20 feet.nThe methods of salt or mine rock disposal evaluated in thi3 study can be categorized as either (a) on-site surface temporary or permanent dis¬posal and/or (b) regional permanent disposal.
