In this study, we assessed the feasibility of using a finite element procedure to examine the impact phenomenon of a tornado-borne missile impinging on a reinforced concrete barrier.nThe major emphasis of this study was to simulate the impact of a nondeformable missile. Several series of simulations were run, using an 8-in.-diam steel slug as the impacting missile. The numerical results were then compared with experimental field tests and empirical formulas.
