This document presents tables of diet-to-milk transfer coefficients for radioactive and stable isotopes in the cow. The values are based on an extensive literature review of the secretion of radioisotopes in milk and the concentrations of radioactive or stable isotopes in milk and feed. Transfer coefficients were compiled and tabulated for isotopes of more than 70 elements. The values are summarized in a table of elemental transfer coefficients and also organized into separate tables that reveal their elemental systematics and the effects of physical and chemical form. Appendix A gives the collateral data and the special procedures for estimating transfer coefficients where the required data were inadequate or nonexistent.nThe transfer coefficients presented in this document can be used in other models to predict transport and fate of pollutants via milk. They can be used for the development of derived radiation protection standards. The information and data on secretion of radionuclides in milk should have numerous applications in the assessment of the transfer of radionuclides from the environment to milk and the dose to man via the forage-cow-milk pathway.
