These data were assembled by various research organizations to help plan the development of new energy sources and to provide targets for energy conservation activities. The composite volume of data which presents energy consumption profiles for major industrial sectors and for the most energy intensive processes within each sector is monumental. As a result, the task faced by users of the data who need an overview of industry to develop energy conservation program priorities is a difficult one.
