Results are as follows:n1. good irradiation performance for fuel rods carbonized in packed Al2 03 and in-block,n2. little effect of different carbonization techniques on the irradiation performance of the fuel particles,n3. no difference in performance between particles made in the 2.5-cm-diam (1-in.) coater and the 13-cm-diam (5-in.) coater,n4. nearly identical performance of kernels containing 2 3 3 U with that of kernels containing 2 3 5 U, andn5. no real difference between matrices using different filler particle types.
