The objectives of this investigation are:n(1) To review the progress achieved in the field of liquid-liquid extraction of lanthanides and actinides from aqueous salt solution by organophosphorus compounds such as di- (2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (HDEHP) and TEP.n(2) To develop thermodynamic models for single, binary, and multicomponent systems and to quantitatively describe and predict the equilibrium relationships for liquid-liquid extraction of lanthanide and actinide nitrates by organophosphorus compounds (TEP and HDEHP);
