REMOVAL OF PRIMARY CIRCUIT COMPONENTS FROM THEnPEACH BOTTOM HTGR

Subsequent to shutdown of the Peach Bottom High-Temperature Gas-Cooled Reactor for decommissioning, steam generator and primary circuit ducting samples were removed for subsequent evaluation and design methods verification. The work was part of the Peach Bottom End-of-Life Program and was performed by Catalytic Incorporated under subcontract to General Atomic Company.nEngineering and planning prior to initiation of site work required integration with proposed decommissioning activities and included (1) devel opment of engineering specifications and control work packages, (2) detailed planning and scheduling, (3) establishment of quality assurance, health physics, and safety programs, (4) negotiations with the BoilermakerS union, Philadelphia Electric Company, etc. , (5) procurement of materals and initiation of subcontracts, and (6) site visits to plan means of access.
