This paper reviews the work done at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the development of natural systems which produce potable water from sewage.nConventional treatment plant hardware beyond aeration is not used in these prototype marsh/pond and meadow/marsh/ pond systems and no sludge is generated.nExperiments with two prototype systems are described and performance data are presented in detail for the marsh/ pond.
