Activity Coordinator for Homes for the Aged and Infirm and Family Care Homes: Course Outline

This curriculum guide provides information to be used for training individuals employed as activity coordinators in the homes for the aged and infirm in North Carolina. The curriculum is designed in sixteen 3 - hour units. The activity coordinator develops an activity program which meets the requirements of the North Carolina State document on minimum and desired standards (1977) in homes for the aged and infirm. The curriculum addresses basic units required to meet this task. There are 15 numbered units plus a 'floating' unit on mental retardation. For each unit, the guide lists the task areas to be addressed, the performance objective, the performance measure, the knowledge and skills required, suggested methods, and materials needed. Appendices discuss common health problems of persons requiring long - term care and list a job description, annotated suggested resources, supportive resource personnel, suggested handouts on mental retardation and other handouts, suggested supplies and community resources, and frequently used terms. Appendices also include an annotated list of national organizations, devices to help handicapped persons, exercises, and attitude surveys.
