Market Prospects and Economics of Nuclear Gasification of Coal to Synthetic Natural Gas

This investigation was restricted to the heat market of the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition to coal gasification, the use of HTRs for producing nuclear district heat was also investigated. The estimated potential use of SNG and nuclear district heating is together 30 million tons coal equivalent in the year 2000 and 120 million tons in 2025. Twelve nuclear process heat plants of 3000 MW(t) each are required in 2000 and 52 in 2025. (ERA citation 05:018323)
