The slumping and distortion behavior of tungsten-nickel-iron (W-Ni-Fe) alloys containing 90 percent tungsten was studied. Additions of ruthe¬nium, copper, cobalt, and hafnium either singly or m combine Hon were made to a W-7 Ni-3 Fe alloy, and the sintering behavior of the alloys produced was observed as a function of sintering temperature and to some extent, the sintering time. Sintering temperatures were determined by differential thermal analysis (DTA), and sintered alloy microstructures were examined Distortion of the W-7 Nl-3 Fe alloy was readuced com¬pletely by ruthenium additions of 1 and 2% and was slightly reduced D copper, cobalt, and hafnium.
