摘要

Changes were studied of the lattice parameters of annealed diamond irradiated with a neutron flux of 8x10 exp 19 n/cm exp 2 at an energy of E>75 eV and a temperature of 110 to 115 degC with the aim of estimating the in pile temperature. The photographic powder and Debye-Scherrer techniques are described used for measuring changes in the lattice parameters. The irradiated diamond powder was studied using X-rays in the (331)Ksub( beta ) spectral line. The samples were then annealed to a temperature of 75 to 200 degC. The diamond volume increased with increasing neutron flux. The isothermal annealing curves of the irradiated diamond are given. It is shown that the contraction is not caused by annealing providing irradiation temperature is not exceeded. The results show that diamond may be used as a radiation detector. A list of references is given to literature dealing with the effects of radiation on certain physical properties of diamond. (Atomindex citation 10:451920)
