摘要

In a new method of analysing the energy distribution of secondary electrons, the usual modulation of the analyser potential is replaced by a high frequency sinusoidal modulation of the primary electron gun. This method is 100 to 1000 times more sensitive and allows the primary current to be decreased to 10 exp -10 A and the area analysed reduced to some hundreds of angstroms diameter. It gives the spectral density directly and no longer its derivative. There is evidence that absorption discontinuities in the continuous spectrum of secondary electrons emitted from a target irradiated by electrons, has enabled hydrogen to be detected with the JAMP-3. A potential bias applied to a sample can modify the observed Auger spectrum. (Atomindex citation 08:330993)
