The development of efficient techniques for the design and implementation of stable recursive filters was investigated. The following project areas were addressed: design of two-dimensional filters via spectral transformations; factorization of multivariable polynomials over the integers; general realization scheme for 2-D digital transfer functions; and hardware implementation of two-dimensional digital filters using read-only memories.
