Seasonal Performance and Cost Factors of Oil or Gas-Fired Boilers and Furnaces.

The cost effective performance of an oil-or gas-fired furnace for residential space heating and/or domestic hot water systems is examined on a theoretical basis. Numerical expressions are derived for the Seasonal Performance Factor and Seasonal Cost Factor for a given boiler/furnace design and can be compared with experimental data on fuel consumption and boiler/furnace efficiency.
