Generalization and Simple Derivation of the Hohenberg--Kohn Energy Functional Theorem

The Hohenbergy-Kohn energy functional theorem for the many body problem states the existence of a functional for the energy in terms of the density function, which when minimized yields the true ground state energy. Their proof was given for an inhomogeneous electron system. The theorem, generalized to include arbitrary n-body interactions, is given a simple proof. (Atomindex citation 08:316307)
