The present combined geotechnical, environmental, socio¬economic impact, and engineering study has been undertaken to identify the different uses to which geothermal heat and fluids could be applied as a direct utilization of resource or as heat utilization. The primary research objective of the current phase, Phase Zero, of the project is to determine optimal direct heat utilizations for agricultural, industrial and/or space heating uses, to determine optimal differential benefits, and to recommend the studies for the next phase of development and construction of such facilities.nThe economic/geo-technical feasibility of developing them for some specific uses must be weighed against the feasibility of purchasing steam at the wellhead from the resource companies who are developing that resource, at present for electrical power geneiation only. On the other hand, major environmental factors may militate against some development plans while favoring others. A still different consideration—societal needs of the local population --may tend to favor some agricultural or industrial processes while relegating others to a lower level of desirability.
