A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR REMOTE PROCESSOR CONTROL

This paper deals with the design, development and implementa¬tion of a communication link between two mini computers, a PDP 11/35 and an Interdata 7/32. Much of the work done by the software systems group is not suited to run under the time shared operating system which is controlling the group's PDP11/35 mini computer. Long numerical analysis problems, simulations, and modeling programs can not run effectively un-der time-slicing schemes. The communication link is a effort to keep the Interdata dedicated to executing large and long running programs and free from users editng files by having users edit and store their files on the 11 and leave the Interdata free for program execution under a batch operating system, transfaring the files to the Interdata only when they are needed for program execution.
