This paper addresses the question of impact management and discusses management strategies proposed or used for social and economic impacts associated with coal development communities in the West. This effort is part of the Battelle, Pacific Northwest Laboratory, Regional Assessment Program, which is being conducted for the Energy Research and Development Administration.
