European Waste-to-Energy Systems:Case Study of Rennes, France

Heavy industries (automobiles, railway equipment, refineries) have arrived and Rennes has become a center of the electronics industry. It is also a university city, with students making up about 10 percent of the population.nThe city has an area of 5,022 hectares (19.4 sq mi) and an average density of 41 inhabitants per hectare (10,567 per sq mi). The center of the city is made up of neoclassical granite buildings and straight streets. A few medieval buildings survived the great fire of 172 0 that destroyed much of old Rennes. The combination is architecturally quite attractive.
