STUDY OF INTEGRATION ISSUES TO REALIZE OTEC MARKET POTENTIAL First Quarterly Report for December 1978

To date the research has primarily addressed Tasks 1 and 2 of the planned project. The review of prior research (Task 1) has emphasized the collection of reports related to OTEC, the commercialization of new technologies and the economic, institutional and political factors that are related to integrating new technologies into power systems. This review 1s developing background data for the project and providing a file of references structured according to the topical requirements of the study.nDuring the performance of Task 2, the identification of investment incentives and barriers, data ware compiled (some of which was obtained in Task 3 review) which relate to the Gulf region's economic, industrial and demographic characteristics and the capacity acquisition plans and regulatory involvement of the region's utilities.
