Biodegradation of High-Level Oil-in-Water Emulsions

A process for disposing of high-level oil-in-water emulsions used as coolants in metal machining operations has been demonstrated. This process utilizes an aerobic, stirred-bed reactor for the biodegradation of these organic wastes and has demonstrated organic carbon removal efficiencies of 98 percent. (ERA citation 03:048257)
