This report is a result of the assessment study. A history of the insulation industry is presented in Section 2, followed by an indication of the market size. Available data of the various generic insulation ma¬terials were compiled and the assessed thermal property and other data for generic materials are presented in Section 3. The application of insulation materials in building envelopes is discussed in Section 4 for both residen¬tial and industrial/commercial structures. The state-of-the-art of thermal and other property testing methods and building codes are presented in Sections 5 and 6, respectively. It is anticipated that this document will provide decision makers in government, regulators, manufacturers, installers, and consumers with a collective source of authoritative, state-of-the-art information on insulation materials and systems.
