High Psub(Transverse)-Jet Structure and Tunneling Effects in Quark Pair Production by Dual-String Splitting

A model describing large as well as low psub(transverse)-events is presented. In spite of all the models explaining a psub(transverse) exp -8 -dependence of the cross section for large psub(transverse) phenomena, the authors believe in a psub(transverse) exp -4 - dependence arising from a simple hard quark scattering together with a thermodynamical mechanism. It is also suggested that the whole behaviour can be explained in a thermodynamical model where the universal Hagedorn temperature locally is varying giving rise to high psub(transverse)-events. In the model the authors use the techniques of tunneling to discuss some aspects of the quark dynamics in the production of large psub(transverse)-jets, for example multiplicity distributions in jets and predictions of particle spectra which may have relevance to experiments. In particular fits to the inclusive psub(transverse)-distributions have been made. (Atomindex citation 09:377709)
