摘要

A brief description of the process and equipment involved in the conversion of UO sub 3to UF sub 6at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Feed Plant is given. The applications of specially designed corrosive gas chromatographs in analyzing and controlling critical stages in the process are described. Information is presented on the design and construction of the chromatographs. Special features include unique methods of simultaneously determining PPM concentrations of UF sub 6and % levels of F sub 2and air components in a minimum time,and determining O sub 2 , N sub 2 , F sub 2 ,and HF concentrations in a single analysis. A description of specially coated teflon columns,selective sample component converters,and selective trapping systems used to resolve very difficult problems usually associated with the analyses of corrosive gases such as F sub 2 ,HF,and UF sub 6is presented.
