Current methods of converting quartz crystal microbalance frequency shifts to mass are frequently quite inaccurate. An improved method is presented which reduces the error to a fraction of a percent. The algorithm requires a knowledge of the crystal function and the mass loading distribution. (ERA citation 03:035916)
