Optical Pumping Effects in Lamb Dip Spectroscopy

Experimentally obtained Lamb dip spectra for the 5535 A exp 0 line in Barium show several unexpected features. By considerations of optical pumping among the m-sublevels, these features may be explained. Computer plots of predicted spectra based on these calculations are presented, and compared with the experimental data.
