摘要

To attain high efficiency in steam turbine (ST) facilities it is necessary to simultaneously increase the temperature and the pressure of the super heated steam. This is technically very difficult because of the low strengths of structural materials at high temperatures. One of the possible and evidently most promising ways of avoiding the simultaneous effect on the equipment of high temperature and high pressure is to have the steam cycle augmented by a high temperature cycle operating with a relatively low pressure of working fluid. Two types of high temperature toppers are considered (thermionic energy converters (TEC) and MHD generators (MHDG)) and on the basis of a comparative analysis an evaluation is made of their technical and economic indices. The following types of power plants operating with gas are compared: (1) with ST; (2) with TEC and ST; (3) with MHDG and ST;and (4) with MHDG,TEC and St. (ERA citation 03:008271)
